
Mountains of Prades: A Climber’s Paradise in the mediterranean Europe
Placed in Spain, to the south of Barcelona, and near the Reus Airport, these predominantly limestone and conglomerate mountains rise steeply from the coast and many of the climbing areas are at an altitude between 500m and 1000m.
Here there are 11 major crags including Siurana, Margalef,Montsant, and La Mussara.
The Sierra de Prades Mountains feature 11 major sport climbing areas, offering nearly 9,000 routes, most of which are single or two-pitch. The rock, a mix of limestone and conglomerate, is generally of excellent quality, with a wide variety of grades to accommodate climbers of all abilities and styles. To the north, you'll find two sandstone bouldering areas, with El Cogul being the primary spot, as well as extensive bouldering at Arboli, where sport climbing is also available.
Siurana
Siurana is undoubtedly the crown jewel of sport climbing in the Sierra de Prades Mountains. Perched above a stunning canyon, the charming village of Siurana is surrounded by dramatic limestone crags in every direction. With over 2,000 routes ranging from F3 to F9b+, climbers can expect to tackle sharp crimps and side pulls on vertical or gently overhanging walls made of rough, superb limestone.
Thanks to its perfect location, combined with its scenic beauty and top-tier routes, Siurana has become one of Europe's most sought-after winter climbing destinations, offering excellent conditions from autumn to spring.
Margalef

La Mussara
Located at 1,000m, La Mussara is an expansive area divided into several crags, each offering its own unique features, including some multi-pitch routes.The majority of the routes here fall within the F5 to F7a range, set on high-quality conglomerate rock.
